As one of the most visited cities in the world, New York has thousands of places to stay. For cruise passengers, that’s a great thing. It means you can find somewhere to stay close to the port and near many of the city’s attractions.

In fact, if you are coming from out of town, we highly recommend extending your trip by a day or two to take in some of the city sites. Meanwhile, staying near the Manhattan Cruise Terminal makes things easy and convenient come sail day.

The terminal is near many major landmarks like Central Park, Radio City Music Hall, and Times Square. As well, when it comes time to head to your cruise, staying nearby means you can simply walk to the port and don’t have to deal with finding transportation if you don’t want to do so.

New York Hotels Near the Manhattan Cruise Port

Comfort Inn Midtown West
Just about a block from the water and under a mile’s walk to the cruise port (or even closer depending on which pier your ship uses), this Comfort Inn is extremely close. It provides unpretentious accommodations with free breakfast and free wi-fi, as well as flat panel TV, in-room coffee/tea-maker, baggage storage, and 24-hour front desk. It’s little surprise it gets such great reviews.

Paramount Times Square
Many people choose to spend some time in the city before their cruise. In that case, the Paramount might be a good option. It sits right near Times Square, but only a little over a mile away from the port. It has a 24-hour fitness center, a snack bar/deli and a 24-hour business center. Other amenities include valet parking, concierge services, and dry cleaning.

Pod Times Square
One mile from the cruise ships, Pod Times Square offers “chic, simplistic, and affordable rooms with ultra-comfy beds, connectivity for all your gadgets, and in-suite bathrooms with rainfall showers.” The hotel’s comparatively lower room rates are based on “maximized space while doing away with unnecessary, expensive extras.”

In other words, the size of their smaller accommodations may remind you of an inside cabin on a cruise ship, but the trade-off can shave some pre-cruise expenses from your trip.

Row NYC Hotel
The Row NYC describes itself as “located in the heart of NYC’s Theater District, one block from Times Square and everything else that makes New York City ‘The Most Exciting City in the World.'” In that spirit, it’s definitely a more modern and trendy hotel geared toward those wanting a memorable stay. All told you are just about 20 minutes walking from the cruise ship.

Watson Hotel
The Watson Hotel is only a 10-minute walk from the cruise port, making it one of the closest spots to stay near the ship. Staying in the summer? Be sure to take advantage of the rooftop deck and pool. The hotel also offers free wi-fi for guests staying. There’s even an on-site restaurant so that you don’t have to go far for a bite to eat.

YOTEL New York
Looking for somewhere modern and trendy? Then YOTEL New York might fit the bill. According to their website, the hotel provides “all the buzz and the energy of Manhattan, but without the hefty prices you find in some other ‘lifestyle’ hotels.'” The hotel features a lot of modern conveniences, including automated kiosk check-in and a luggage-storing robot. The New York location also features a rooftop terrace that’s a popular hangout on warm evenings.

Belvedere Hotel
Describing itself as “boutique luxury,” the Belvedere Hotel provides a classic luxury hotel feel in the heart of Manhattan. What else would you expect from a hotel that’s been around since the 1920’s? You’re located just blocks from Times Square an a 20-minute walk to the cruise port. The hotel also gets great ratings, with many people citing its great location.

Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan
It simply doesn’t get closer to Times Square if you’re interested in spending some time in the city before you cruise. The Crowne Plaza literally overlooks the area and you can be in the middle of it all within a few steps outside. Even with that location, you are only a mile from the ship. The hotel also recently underwent an $85 million renovation… perhaps that’s one reason it earns strong reviews.

The 44-story hotel includes a lobby bar and Zagat-rated restaurant both overlooking the bustling scene outside.

A short 9-minute walk from this hotel will have you at the cruise ships at the Manhattan terminal.
